Lightspeed Audio Labs Bolsters Advisory Board with Key Music and Television Industry Veterans
Sarah Frank and Sandy Smallens Join Board as Strategic Advisors to Company
Tinton Falls, NJ (February 5, 2007) – Lightspeed Audio Labs Inc., a developer of real-time, Web-based music collaboration technology, today announced the addition of two industry veterans to its Board of Advisors – Sarah Frank and Sandy Smallens. Ms. Frank is highly regarded as a pioneer in the United States and international television industries and, in particular, in the production and distribution of quality entertainment and educational programs. Mr. Smallens has more than 14 years experience in the media/communications and technology industries, and is also a lifelong musician.
Ms. Frank and Mr. Smallens, along with the other board members, will be actively involved in providing strategic guidance as the company launches its technology platform that will allow musical enthusiasts to create and listen to digital-quality audio over the Internet in real time.
Ms. Frank currently serves on the supervisory board of Vivendi, a leader in entertainment with activities in music, TV, cinema, mobile, internet and games. From 1990 to 1997, Ms. Frank was President and CEO of BBC Worldwide Americas, the British Broadcasting Corporation's commercial subsidiary in North and South America. Called "the face of the British Broadcasting Corporation in the United States" by The New York Times, Ms. Frank raised the BBC's name to new prominence within the American industry as well as among viewers, increasing the BBC brand recognition and value.
Ms. Frank has also served as Vice President and Director of Education at Thirteen/WNET New York, the flagship public television station in New York City. She created a television series for teenagers to help them deal with the aftermath of September 11, 2001 and a web site for parents and teachers called Dealing with Tragedy. Ms. Frank has also contributed to the expansion of the National Teacher Training Institute, a nationwide program to train teachers to integrate technology into classroom curricula. recently she co-produced with WGBH They Made America, a documentary series based on the book by Sir Harold Evans.
Mr. Smallens currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Digital for Entercom Communications, one of the nation's largest radio broadcasters. Prior to Entercom, Mr. Smallens held the role of Vice President, Interactive Marketing and Sales for CBS Radio, and served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Oddcast, a media technology company. From 1999 to 2001, he was Executive Vice President for Vivendi Universal's music portals, including GetMusic and RollingStone.com.
Prior to GetMusic, Mr. Smallens was Senior Vice President of SonicNet and, following MTV's acquisition of SonicNet, MTV Interactive. He joined Prodigy Internet in 1996 as Vice President/General Manager. From 1993 to 1996, he founded, staffed and served as Senior Marketing Director for Atlantic Records' Multimedia department, launching one of the first major label web sites and producing seminal Enhanced CD projects.
